Animals need homes as Adopt A Pet shelter in Philippi closes

A number of older dogs and cats are in desperate need of a forever home, as Adopt a Pet Animal Shelter in Philippi closes.

Adopt A Pet is a private, non-profit organization that rescues needy dogs and cats.

The founder and founder of the shelter, Cicely Blumber, sadly passed away on May 9, 2020. Although the team has managed to get by so far, they find themselves in a difficult financial situation and had to relocate more than 200 animals since the beginning of the year.

The shelter and the organization will officially close in the coming months, and the team is desperately calling on the public to adopt their 61 dogs and 18 cats – and give them a home forever.

They waived adoption fees for any dogs or cats over one year old that have been at the shelter for over six months, which is almost all of the animals in their care.

However, the same adoption process, including home screening and inspections, will apply. The shelter requests a donation at your discretion, in lieu of their usual adoption fee which is R950. These R950 adoption fees still apply for pets that are less than one year old or have been at the shelter for less than six months.

If you are able to accommodate an animal in need of a home, please contact Contact Karin on 082 884 1333.
