Girl had only volunteered at an animal shelter for two days when she found her lost cat since childhood

The 15-year-old had only been volunteering at her local animal shelter for a few days when she suddenly reunited with her childhood cat named Spunky.

Hannah Rountree hadn’t seen Spunky since he disappeared from her home in Roseburg, Oregon, on a family vacation three years ago.

In the days following her disappearance, Hannah often cried over her missing feline friend – and as time passed, she and her family assumed the worst.

Now 15, Hannah began volunteering at Saving Grace Pet Adoption Center in December. As fate willed it, it was only her second day at work when she noticed a cat that shockingly resembled Spunky.

To his surprise, it was indeed his missing cat.

The feline was found at the edge of a highway in September. After being put up for adoption, he was brought home by a couple to be taken back to the shelter a few weeks later because he didn’t want to catch any mice.

Ever since Hannah brought him home, she says he quickly became comfortable with his old playground again, although this time she made sure to get him chipped.
