MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio – We adopted our mixed breed dog, Kimmie, in May 2019. Kimmie was a stray who ran around New York City. She was taken to an animal shelter and ended up being taken care of by Colonel Potter Cairn Terrier Rescue Group and was taken in by a family in Bay Village, from whom we adopted another rescue dog in 2004.
Kimmie took a while to adjust to her new home. His adjustment for the most part went rather smoothly. She had been attacked by a large dog while in foster care, so we were careful while walking her.
Kimmie is a real joy and has a wonderful personality. She came with a DNA report, which included a Yorkshire terrier, a silky terrier, another matching terrier, a Pomeranian, a Shih Tzu, and a Lhasa apso. She has a wonderful terrier demeanor and didn’t come with the emotional baggage that some of our old adopted dogs had.
She lets us know in the morning that she is ready to eat and looks forward to her “dessert” of three blueberries immediately after eating. She also likes peas, bananas, and peanut butter.
She loves taking long naps and bird watching while sitting by our sliding doors, plus being the yard bouncer when squirrels and deer enter our yard!
