Mail, possibly donations, stolen from Naperville pet shelter

NAPERVILLE, IL — Thieves “ripped open” a locked mailbox and stole mail that may have included donations to ADOPT Pet Shelter in Naperville, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The incident happened around 12:45 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Industrial Drive. Surveillance footage from that time shows two people in hoodies destroying the mailbox and taking out several envelopes. They then fled in a “small white car”, according to the Chicago Tribune.

ADOPT Pet Shelter recently sent donation requests to its holiday campaign and predicts that the stolen mail pile could have contained thousands of dollars in donations, in addition to the donors’ personal information.
