Restaurant and Pet Shelter Hold Valentine’s Day Fundraiser – The Parthenon

The annual Little Victories Animal Rescue Lovers’ Dinner, usually held at Rocco’s Ristorante in Ceredo, was forced to go remotely this year. Still, event organizers said ticket sales and community support had been “overwhelming.”

“We sold as many dinners as possible that night, and we have even more people looking to sign up,” said Sarah Walling, board member for Little Victories.

Walling said board members were concerned about the success of the event if attendees were unable to attend in person.

“Usually it’s an opportunity to socialize, and we have a silent auction that goes with it,” Walling said. [This year], it’ll almost be like a drive-thru and pickup at Rocco’s.

Despite concerns, 234 dinners were purchased to allow the shelter to be picked up for the event on Monday night, said Stephanie Howell, executive director of Little Victories.

Howell said event planners sold tickets so quickly and had to end the sales period earlier than expected.

“It’s great,” Howell said. “We are really delighted with the support the community has given us. “

Howell said all funding for Little Victories comes from donations and fundraising and does not receive any state or federal funding. She said every dinner sold made a difference due to their trusted sources of running the shelter almost shutting down.

Howell said ticket prices were lower this year and that $ 25 from each sale will go to support Little Victories.

“Usually we charge $ 75, but that includes unlimited beer and wine and things like that when you’re out in a restaurant,” Howell said. “Because you don’t get the restaurant experience, I couldn’t justify the regular ticket prices.”

Howell said community support for local small businesses is essential during the pandemic, even if some may not operate as usual.

“It’s not the experience people are used to in the restaurant, but it’s still going to support Little Victories, [and] it’s doing what we need to do more and more today and now, supporting local businesses, ”Howell said.
